Captain

Pete Angel

The fourth recipient within our hierarchy of the 'Forlorn Hope' medal, Pete joined initially in the seventies whilst still a schoolboy under the ever watchful eyes of Marge Palfrey, though I expect Fred would have led him astray! University life took him away for a little while but he has now knocked up about 25 years all told in this little game so in January this year (2003) he was given his 'wrinkly medal'

For all too many years Pete spent as the sergeant of the musket division making life fun for Hopton's whilst keeping the opposition completely in the dark as to what he was going to do next, which was in hindsight wholly understandable as he didn't have a clue either!

Nevertheless promotion was due our Pete some time ago and despite some dodgy dealings with the Lieutenant of the time Pete finally got what he almost thoroughly deserved by becoming Captain in 2000. He now acts as Sergeant of the Hopton's Musket division!

For many years Pete (along with Mrs. Pete) wrote, edited, printed and distributed the bi monthly newsletter at the same time as acting as kit and general equipment supplier, he can also take most of the credit of breathing new life into 'Mars his Triumph', a drill display first performed in 1638.
